The Projects Progress
The ongoing progress ...
Winter 2011/2012
Our Whole hearted thanks go to ...
The Transport Trust Restoration Award who funded the welding work. The welding is complete and Les is busy lining and insulating under the deck in the fo'csle. If you have are able to support Les to start on the aft deck, please contact him.
Ray and Les who have been busy painting the inside of the hull and organising the winter wood store, which included installing some newly donated display panels. Thank you.
Richard and Ray who have continued to cut and replenish our wood supplies to keep the vessel dry. A daily fire helps to preserve the displays and archives we now hold.
For those who did not see the barge moved to the British Waterways dock for the 24 hr appraisal may not know that the whole vessel was pressure washed and painted by a our member, retired boatman, Frank Major. Thank you very much Frank - a bus man's holiday for you.
In addition to the work that this project is doing, James Wilkinson (who now owns the Friar Tuck tug) is currently restoring the tug, with aid of research from Les, to its original colours - as it was when it was new in 1952, one year older than Leicester Trader.
